     Countdown to Adventure 1

I just read the origin of Forerunner, in Countdown to Adventure
I must say not overly impressed
You see she is the product of all the other alien life forms that inhabit our solar system
Well not "our" solar system but one similar to ours
The earth apperently eradicated it self and the other races flurished (this did not happen on new earth, or any previous incarnation or elseworld)
This would be a universe without any (DC) heroes
The Monitor (one of them) comes down and negotiates a treaty for the other races to wage war on earth to settle their differences (ala Gladitoral/Roman style problem solving)
Those fighters left for dead (I guess no one really cared if they lived because nobody came back to check on them) go into hiding and intermingle (apperently all of them are compatible to procreate) to become this super race known as the forerunners (although it does not say why they call themselves this)
But it seems to me that one of the only reasons to introduce this new race (and here comes the catch of course) was to kill them off with shadow Monitors and make Forerunner the last surviving member (now does that sound like a familiar formula?)

Now aside from this story the other ones were actually interesting, I enjoyed the fallout Adam (Strange) had with all of Rann because he wanted to take a vacation. The complications that are occuring in Buddy's (Animal Man) house because there is a very good looking alien sleeping in their house (Starfire). So all in all if I were to rate the book I give it a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.
